Agence Technique pour l’Action Humanitaire et Sociale (ATAHS) recently completed two round-trip missions with the support of MAF: the first in November and December 2025, and the second in January 2026. The first mission aimed to officially hand over the community radio Souroup FM 98.3 MHz from Zouar to the local association Association pour le Développement de Tibesti (ASDET), while the second aimed to officially sign the terms of reference for the radio with La Haute Autorité des médias et de l’audiovisuel (HAMA).
Their interventions play a vital role in strengthening social cohesion within the Tibesti province by providing opportunities for professional skills development as well as job creation for youth and women.
‘‘We work within the framework of preventing violent extremism and reinforcing social cohesion in this province,’’ said Mahamad Nazir Ouchar, the programme coordinator.
The distance by road between the capital N’Djamena and their intervention areas , Zouar, Wour, and Bardai, is considerable. N’Djamena-Zouar measures 1,560 km (about two and a half days of travel), N’Djamena-Wour is 1,710 km (three days of travel), and N’Djamena-Bardai is 2,000 km (equivalent to four days of travel). MAF flight reached Zouar in under 5 hours.
